View source for Sampling cone

a component of a [[spray ionization]] interface, such as [[electrospray]] or [[thermospray]], that consists of a cone with a small orifice through which the spray passes into a differentially pumped chamber. A capillary can also be used in place of a cone. In interfaces that have both a [[sampling cone]] and [[skimmer]], the spray passes first through the sampling cone and then through the skimmer.
