DRAFT DEFINITION |
Linked scan at constant B2/E |
---|
A linked scan at constant B2/E may be performed on a sector mass spectrometer that incorporates at least one electric sector plus one magnetic sector in either order. The accelerating voltage is fixed and the magnetic field, B, and the electric field, E, are scanned simultaneously so as to maintain the ratio B2/E at a constant value. This linked scan records a precursor ion spectrum of dissociation or other reactions occurring in the field free region (FFR) preceding the two sectors. |
