| An ion-to-electron detector in which the ion strikes the surface of a electrode and induces the production of secondary electrons. In turn, these impinge in sequence on dynodes at a more positive electrical potential to produce more secondary electrons. This avalanche effect produces an increase in the final measured current pulse. | |||
