Microelectrospray

From Mass Spec Terms
DRAFT DEFINITION
Microelectrospray

This term is used to describe the electrospray interface which achieves a reduction in the sample flow rates (less than 1 μL/min). The reduced flow rate is due to a narrower inner diameter of the needle tip (usually less than 50 μm) and is maintained mechanically. See also electrospray ionization and nanoelectrospray.

Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
