DRAFT DEFINITION |
High energy collision |
---|
Collisions that are typically in the keV range and occur in sector, ToF-ToF and hybrid instruments. The ion excitation is mainly electronic, corresponding to a vertical electronic transition. This energy is redistributed as vibrational energy, and this can lead to simple bond cleavage. |
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission |
