DRAFT DEFINITION
High energy collision

High Energy Collisions are in the keV range and occur in sector, TOF-TOF and hybrid instruments. The ion excitation is mainly electronic and corresponds to a vertical electronic transition. Energy redistribution to vibrational energy can lead to simple bond cleavage.

Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
