DRAFT DEFINITION
Aromatic ion

A planar cyclic ion that obeys the the H?ckel (4n + 2) rule where n is a positive integer representing the number of conjugated π electrons. Charge delocalization leads to greater stability compared to a hypothetical localized structure.

Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
